Which anyone who knew me would tell you was pretty much unsurprising. I have something of a hero complex. I'm a natural good-guy. I'm not stupid, or even particularly simple ( I LIKE long words), but I DO have that sadistic streak that everyone's always damn surprised about. The phrase 'savaged by a duck' describes me pretty well too.

So. Time off. This is nice. I feel like I should do a proper update, or post something interesting or something.

But... do I have anything to say?

Other than redfireborn if you want me to do that beta-ing, I've got some time now. Same goes for anyone else out there that's looking for a beta, actually. I like betaing.

I've never heard the phrase "savaged by a duck" before. Must be Brit-speak.

And thank you for your clarification of what the word "caucasian" means. It's funny how language gets twisted around. The word "nice," for example, used to mean "stupid." It used to my favourite middle school joke to explain that to people and then say to the next person who walked into the room, "I think you're really nice." What a bitch I was :)

'Savaged by a duck' is a Terry Pratchet phrase that specifically refers to Carrot. And I think I knew the nice one... also from Terry Pratchet. There's a whole thing about it in Good Omens.

If you haven't read him, you should. You could start with Good Omens, cos that's an introduction to Neil Gaimon too, and a stand alone.

I think it's the combination of heroism and innocence. That bit in Guards!Guards! where he writes to his mum and dad about spending the night at Mrs Palm's: 'Reet woke me a couple of times to ask if I wanted anything, but there weren't any apples, so...'

And the generally liking everyone and seeing the best in everyone of course. And the fact that he's so sweet with Angua. And the fact that he doesn't WANT to be king, he'd rather be a copper. And... yeah. We like Carrot.

Oh, and about the beta-ing, I sent you three fics some time ago, when you were pretty busy, I can't even remember the titles... But anyway, I think you'd only mailed two of them back to me, is that correct? Would you happen to have the third one still?
