I was expecting today to be shite.

It didn't start out so well, but then 6.00 in the morning is never a good thing. But classes, tutes and essays all better than expected, and LGBT event pretty good fun although very crowded. However, room full of fluffy gay men is never a bad thing in Jessie's books, and I sat in a corner and chatted to a couple of terrified looking lesbian freshers. My college LGB daughter is quite possibly the prettiest lesbian I have ever seen in real life.

In other news, Rocky Horror sing-a-long yesterday was the best fun I've had since... [personal profile] sea_bright's party the day before. Pictures will be forthcoming as soon as [profile] fu_manchu12 and [personal profile] opportunemoment send them to me.

The only really shite thing that happened today is that the JCR actually voted against mandating the comittee to campain to allow girls to have choral scholarships, while I wasn't there to speak up. I'm so, so irritated by this. It's petty, and pointless, and also at least partially the fault of the fucker I ranted about in my last post, my current tute partner. The other two Magdalan girls in the choir actually campaigned against scholarships, because they fancy the pants off the male choral scholars and will do what ever they say, and they already get their singing lessons paid for by the college because they're music scholars. I freely admit that this means that the only Magdalen student that would currently benefit from scholarships is therefor me, but a) actually it wouldn't come through until after I've left, that's not even the fucking point any more, and b) if the opportunity was avialable for female choral scholars at Magdalen, then they'd have more girls wanting to sing in the choir. Sarah, last years LGB rep, spoke up in favour of giving girls funding and was heckled down, including by some homophobic comments, after which I think things pretty much descended into name calling. She's going to try to get them under one of the uni's equal ops policies...

Oh joy. I'd thought the world had gotten somewhere in a few thousand years of civilisation. Guess not...

It's gotten somewhere. I'm just not sure where.
Mebbe it got on the wrong bus.

I think it got on the right bus, it's just that the bus route leads through Birmingham :)

Would ghetto blasters outside chapple during service time be deeply wrong? Or do you reckon I could borrow Milo's bagpipe playing ability?

How is it even possible that people could actively argue against something like that? I mean, what kind of moron actually goes out of their way to stop it? My computer clock seems to be wrong, it says '2004'.

It gets me that it's not just the moronic boys, but also the girls who might possibly benefit from it but are prepared to say no, we don't want it cos it's tradition.

Meep! Evil evil stupid people!
They don't want to attract female singers? They obviously like the idea of being castrati ;D

Well at least the rest of the day went well. Glad you had fun at the LGBT event. Lost personal pronouns. Generally lost. Must rush - relativity lecture.

Lost.
They like the idea of singing with trebles is what they like. They like having little boys hanging around the place. Insane people.
Enjoy relativity. E=MC2 :)

Nope, still haven't been taught that. Today was about spaceships in barns and rocks killing astronauts.

I can't believe people would be that narrow-minded and stupid, and the fact that girls would refuse to stand up for other girls because it might spoil their chances of getting a date...argh!

*Timewarps*
