Oct. 11th, 2004 03:36 pmI was expecting today to be shite.
It didn't start out so well, but then 6.00 in the morning is never a good thing. But classes, tutes and essays all better than expected, and LGBT event pretty good fun although very crowded. However, room full of fluffy gay men is never a bad thing in Jessie's books, and I sat in a corner and chatted to a couple of terrified looking lesbian freshers. My college LGB daughter is quite possibly the prettiest lesbian I have ever seen in real life.
In other news, Rocky Horror sing-a-long yesterday was the best fun I've had since...
sea_bright's party the day before. Pictures will be forthcoming as soon as
fu_manchu12 and
opportunemoment send them to me.
The only really shite thing that happened today is that the JCR actually voted against mandating the comittee to campain to allow girls to have choral scholarships, while I wasn't there to speak up. I'm so, so irritated by this. It's petty, and pointless, and also at least partially the fault of the fucker I ranted about in my last post, my current tute partner. The other two Magdalan girls in the choir actually campaigned against scholarships, because they fancy the pants off the male choral scholars and will do what ever they say, and they already get their singing lessons paid for by the college because they're music scholars. I freely admit that this means that the only Magdalen student that would currently benefit from scholarships is therefor me, but a) actually it wouldn't come through until after I've left, that's not even the fucking point any more, and b) if the opportunity was avialable for female choral scholars at Magdalen, then they'd have more girls wanting to sing in the choir. Sarah, last years LGB rep, spoke up in favour of giving girls funding and was heckled down, including by some homophobic comments, after which I think things pretty much descended into name calling. She's going to try to get them under one of the uni's equal ops policies...

Date: 2004-10-12 04:36 am (UTC)They don't want to attract female singers? They obviously like the idea of being castrati ;D
Well at least the rest of the day went well. Glad you had fun at the LGBT event. Lost personal pronouns. Generally lost. Must rush - relativity lecture.
