Had the first rehearsal of the show I'm doing this term - it's Patience, by G and S.
Mildly disconcerted - no, I lie, distinctly depressed - by the fact that the girl singing the lead doesn't have as strong a voice as me, but IS tall and thin and blond. Three things which I am very much not. It's not like I even wanted the lead - it'd be FAR too much like hard work for my first term at uni. But still. Tall thin blond people seriously intimidate me.

On a completely unconnected note - I found this kinda appropriate.

You are Form 9, Vampire: The Undying.

"And The Vampire was all that remained on
the blood drowned creation. She attempted to
regrow life from the dead. But as she was
about to give the breath of life, she was
consumed in the flame of The Phoenix and the
cycle began again."

Some examples of the Vampire Form are Hades (Greek)
and Isis (Egyptian).
The Vampire is associated with the concept of
death, the number 9, and the element of fire.
Her sign is the eclipsed moon.

As a member of Form 9, you are a very realistic
individual. You may be a little idealistic,
but you are very grounded and down to earth.
You realize that not everything lasts, but you
savor every minute of the good times. While
you may sometimes find yourself lonely, you
have strong ties with people that will never be
broken. Vampires are the best friends to have
because they are sensible.

Vampires and Unicorns. Elves, Angels, Dragons etc etc etc. Mythology in general. It's all good. Been obsessed with it forever. Probably will be obsessed by it forever. Footy's just a sideliine. Harry Potter just an extension.

True. I haven't quite come to terms with JKR ripping off Tolkien's ringwraiths for her dementors. I'm very protective over Tolkien's work. I'd love to find out if Veelas actually exist though. By "exist" I mean exist beyond the realms of JKR's head as actual folklore, not something she made up.

... I think they're based on some real mythology. It's all in Mythical Creatures and Where to Find Them, which JKR wrote and sold to raise money for Comic Relief a while back.

Thanks for the info. I might request that as a birthday presnt, probably from my brother to gift him with the opportunity to roll his eyes at me. He hates Harry Potter.
