I did my washing really REALLY badly this week. For some reason my usual technique of bung-it-all-in-the-washing-machine-and-hope-for-the-best didn't come through for me, and now all my underwear is faintly purple on account of an errant sock, the dye in two of my jumpers has run, another jumper has shrunk, and my socks (apart from the evil purple one) seem to all have been eaten.

In other news, last night I ate stupidly large amounts of chocolate and icecream, and watched some very random films. The Matthew Bourne all male Swan Lake on DVD, which was just absolutely fabulous and sooooo preddy, and the Mask of Zorro, which is the first Antonio Banderas film I've seen since being forcibly sat down in front of Evita (which incidentally wasn't half as bad as I thought it was going to be), and every time he had one of his lines about 'doing this for the people' I got the Evita theme going round my head.

ooh, that Swan Lake is the preddiest thing in the world. I saw it live a few years ago and it was *amazing* and I would've paid anything to see it again, so thank the lord for video. I love the disco scene :) and the pas de deux is just delicious, but oh, the ending! *sobs*

That pas de deux must be the most powerful bit of ballet I've ever seen ever. The power relationships, and the way they shift, and the fact that this doesn't even in the slightest bit correspond to whichever of them it is that's technically speaking doing the guys moves... lifts as submission and pirrouettes as dominance and... it explores all the same ins and outs of male relationships that it's so fun to play about with in slash.

oh *yeah*, great description. That's exactly how it works - until that amazing lift, where the Prince is gathered up in the Swan's arms.

I love the bitchy little swans too, their sequence is gorgeous.

The bitchy swans were adorable. And I also really, really love the lifts in the drunken pas de deux between the prince and his mother.
But then I could spend a very very long time ranting about how many different bits were wonderful. So yeah.
