Dear Santa,
First off, a huge THANK YOU for offering to write me shiny shiny fic. And also, the standard - please, write what will make you happy, write what you'd like to see the characters doing, and whatever it is, I'm sure it will give me hours of glee. Be warned, I'm going to go into quite some detail here - please, I hope you genuinely feel free to totally ignore it and write the story that you'd really enjoy writing. For what it's worth, I've never actually written a 'dear santa' letter before, and I've always got exactly the fic that I wanted, so please, please feel free to totally ignore this.

That said, if you want more pointers:
I love slash. I prefer gen to het, although either is good. I love adventure and action. I love introversion and characters sitting around talking about random stuff. I believe that angst is good for the soul, and all the better if there's an uplifting element to the story as well. I'm happy with smut, and there's almost no way of squicking me out, but having said that, in almost all cases I prefer the implied and the non-explicit. Humour is good, although there's less scope for it.

As you may have noticed, this year I have mainly requested what you might call 'literary' fandoms. I would love love love it if you felt like doing anything clever with language, form or style. On the other hand, if you'd rather just play with the characters, themes and settings, that's fabulous too!

'Missing scenes' are good and will make me happy in any of the fandoms. With Beowulf especially, there're a couple of huge gaps in the canon timeline that it'd be really fun if you felt like filling. I seem to remember with Beowulf I might have selected a handful of characters who are not all 'on stage' as it were at the same time. If that's the case - don't feel that you need to focus on them all, I'll be deeply happy with whatever I get. Slash is great, comrade-fic and gen is great, het is also great, not that there are many female characters knocking around... ohgod pun unintentional.

With Paradise Lost - ohh, you will make me so happy if you play with or subvert the theology. In case it needs saying, I'm not going to be in the slightest bit offended by any subverting of Christian mythos that you may choose to do. On the other hand, I will completely understand if you're not comfortable doing this.

As for the Shakespeare plays, anything you could possibly do will make me happy.

The Tempest, I just want to see more interaction between those characters. I think here that writing either before or after the events of the play gives you most scope, but missing scenes are great too, as is anything else you can think of. Slash in any combination is good, gen is great, het is, well, incest, and wasn't what I had in mind... *shrug*.
Go to town. Write whatever you want.

Coriolanus, I'm particularly interested in slash. Go to Aufidius' and Corialanus' act four exchanges and I'm sure you'll be inspired. This is the fandom in which I'd most like to see smut, and it can be as chaste or as kinky as you'd like. Chaste little sneaked glances and kisses when no one is looking all the way up to BDSM and hurt-comfort. Blurry consent lines and not-quite-non-con are a particular kink of mine. If it takes your fancy, go ahead. Having said that, comrades-in-arms fic will also make me happy, anything exploring the relationship between them. I'm also interested in seeing in more depth people's reactions to Coriolanus' betrayal. But again, if there's something that interests you more about these characters - go for it!

Heh. I do realise that this could possibly now seem even more terrifying than it did before I started. Please, don't be terrified. Just the fact that you're prepared to fulfil my desire for litfic is already making me grin. Have fun with it!
