a good weekend
May. 29th, 2006 01:08 pmI went home.
Was expecting to go home, to Essex, which is not really home in any real sense of the word. But it was the birthday party of one of the women who used to live with us in the house in Tottenham and we all went down to her place in Greenwich, and it was filled with the feminists and ex-hippies that used to live with me as a kid, some of whom I'd not seen in years.
And I got given large amounts of shiny jewelery that was being thrown out to sort through and play with and canabalise. And I got contact details over a possible job offer doing the kind of voluntary work with autistic kids that I've done for years, only for money, and above-minimum-wage money as well.
And Jenni and Peter, who also used to live with us, are getting married. Partly because he's been ill, and they want to sort out financial security, but partly because their objection to marriage was always that it wasn't open to gay couples as well, and now they felt like they could do it without supporting a socially dodgy institution. And that made me happy, as well.
And I've got my old summer job at the kids choir I used to sing with back.
Joyful. Lucky. Happy.
