Dec. 3rd, 2003 04:11 pmWAAAAAAH! I don't understaaaand my fucking literary theory!
Hermenuetic, proairetic, fabula and sjuzet. All these words are in ONE FUCKING SENTENCE. I kid you not. Not in a row like that, but in ONE SENTNECE.
I can define all of them, but I understand none of them. Hermenuetic is 'the code of action in a narrative' Proairectic is 'the code of truths and enigmas'. Fabula is 'the order of events reffered to by the narrative' while sjuzet is 'the order of events presented in the narrative discourse'. But WHAT DOES THAT FUCKING MEAN?????
I've read twenty pages since one o clock. In fact, I'd read the twenty pages by three o clock. Since then I've been staring at it going 'I don't fucking understand'. Considering at my normal speed of reading I can get a 400 page novel done in a day, this is NOT GOOD.
Oh god. Only three days left of term. If I didn't want to tempt fate I'd say at least it can't possibly get any worse.....

Date: 2003-12-03 11:15 am (UTC)Cheri Logan didn't give us our Christmas assignment AGAIN this week. Which is amusing as it was the agreed reason that most of us showed up. It's such a rubbish subject... media bloody semiotics. We had to pick at the Sopranos main titles (which was interesting and cool cause it meant playing Woke Up This Morning twice quite loud), a very bad 80s reality show called Great Escapes, and a wonderbra advert. I drew Cressida in her underwear on the photocopy of the analysis we were given on the wonderbra advert. And then there was a staring Nico which I never finished. So happy National Cressida's Tits Day.
