Why did I not know before this that one of the charges against Marlowe at his blasphemy trial was slashing Jesus and John the Evangelist????
'He did claim that St John the Evangelist was bedfellow to Christ and leaned always in his bosom, that he used him as the sinners of Sodoma.'
He also claimed, apparantly, 'that the angel Gabriel was bawd to the Holy Ghost, because he brought the salutation to Mary'.
Oh I love Marlowe. I really do.
