Dec. 9th, 2003 09:06 pmMy kid sister is doing Lord of the Rings - The Panto! as her christmas play with her drama group. Her best friend - another little girl - is playing Frodo. But my sister is playing... wait for it... Treebeard. I think someone somewhere has an evil sense of humour, seeing as she's easily the shortest person in the class. Steph, who's playing Frodo, is a good foot taller than her. I watched their rehearsal last night and - well, it was about what you'd expect from a bunch of ten-year-olds given a load of plasic swords and told to go do Lord of the Rings.
And I thought the Arsenal Champion's league match was today, but it's not til tomorrow. Which means I don't get to watch it, cos I'm SURE
opportunemoment won't want to sit through it... I'll just have to get the results off the net. Again.
And I didn't get the lead in the show I'm doing next term. Again. They were very appologetic about it, but I've ended up with the exact same crappy bit part that I had when doing the show at the age of eleven. I suspect I know who's got the other parts, and if I'm right then I don't grudge 'em. But if it's blondy from last term again, I'll be irritated.
Drama and acting and musicals always make me wish I was a bloke. All the bloke's parts are better. Almost without exception. My absolute dream roles - only one or two of them are female. Carmen. Carmen would fun. But other than that - I'd sell my soul to sing any of the four male leads from Les Mis. And I'd love to do Tony or Riff from West Side Story.
And guys chorus parts are always more fun than girls.
